Indian Prof Jayant Murthy honored with asteroid name ‘Jayantmurthy’. Who is he?

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has named an asteroid after Indian Professor Jayant Murthy. It was previously called 2005 EX29 and now has been renamed as (215884) Jayantmurthy.
